Kulaʻimano Elderly Housing

An overall view of the Kulaʻimano Elderly Housing Project in Pepeekeo, Hawaii.

Project Summary

The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) is moving forward with renovations at Kulaʻimano Elderly Housing in Pepeʻekeo.

Kulaʻimano Elderly Housing features 50 one-bedroom units across 17 buildings. Constructed between 1977 and 1979, Kulaʻimano Elderly Housing was the OHCD's first development project after being established.

The renovation project includes interior building renovations, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements, and various site improvements, including construction of a concrete walkway and ADA ramp and utility upgrades, among others.

Project Status

Renovation work began in May 2025 and is anticipated to take approximately one year to complete. To minimize impacts, residents are being temporarily relocated to vacant units on-site during construction, ensuring no tenants are displaced from the property.

In late 2025, crews completed renovations on the first six units, and residents have since returned to their upgraded homes. Work continues on the remaining units, with steady progress toward completing the full renovation. These improvements will extend the life of the property and provide safe, modern housing for residents for years to come.
