Enhancing and preserving affordable housing for our communities, ensuring that all residents have access to safe, stable, and sustainable living environments, is a priority for the Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD).

    West Hawaiʻi Emergency Shelter PV System Installation

    The 31-bed shelter in Kailua-Kona was outfitted with a roof-mounted photovoltaic system with batteries in 2024. The project was funded primarily via Community Development Block Grant funds with the remainder from County of Hawaiʻi capital improvement project funds.
